Garuda-Indonesia, the national airline of the resource rich growth economy will soon connect Jakarta with Delhi and Mumbai
In a bilateral treaty signed early this year, India has invited Garuda to operate from the five metros and 15 other major cities in the country. Top officials of Garuda visited India last month and prepared the business plan.
"To start with, they will launch direct flights from Jakarta to Delhi and Mumbai,” an official of the Indonesian Embassy in Delhi told media persons in Kolkata last Tuesday on the sidelines of a meeting addressed by the Indonesian Ambassador, Lt General (Retired) Andi M Ghalib, at the Indian Chamber of Commerce.
