The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) wants to put to use three of its properties which have been lying unused for several years.

It wants to give its hotel properties at Tambdi Surla, Selaulim dam and a third at Keri dam, either on lease or enter into a joint venture (JV) agreement with parties to repair and operate them.

GTDC chairman Nilesh Cabral told STOI the all three properties are in shambles and it does not have finances to repair them.

"The option we are looking at is either to give them on lease or have a JV to have them repaired and operated ," said Cabral.

At Selaulim dam, it has land admeasuring 28,000 sq m with five cottages with a total of 30 rooms and a restaurant. It's Tambdi Surla property is 8,000 sq m with 20 rooms, a restaurant, a hall and a kitchen.

At Keri dam in Sanquelim, it has 42,000 sq m of land. Its hotel, on this location, with 20 rooms, has also remained unused.

Built some years ago, these hotels were hardly put to use, but GTDC wants to use them today, which it cannot, unless repaired.

The GTDC's finances are too strained and as a result, it is looking at other ways of earning revenue.

It appears ironical that GTDC, with its properties at prime tourist spots, has not been doing well while private hotels have done extremely well on growth.
