Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) hotels across Goa will now be enabled with WiFi facilities for guests, offering them a minimum download speed of 512 kbps, officials said.
As per a PTI report, GTDC's Board of Directors (BoDs) on Saturday approved the tender for installing wi-fi facilities in all the 12 hotels. Chennai-based M/s Zylog System (India) Ltd has won the bid which is on a revenue sharing basis of 69:31, GTDC's General Manager Sanjay Chodnekar said.
Chodnekar said the testing and implementation of Wi-Fi service at all the hotels would be completed within a period of three months. "Initially, the contract would be awarded for five years and renewable further subject to mutual agreement," he said. GTDC has its hotels situated in the places like Panaji, Miramar, Margao, Vasco, Mapusa, Calangute, Colva, Farmagudi, Mayem, Old-Goa and Britona. Chodnekar said Internet has become a necessity in today's hospitality industry.
GTDC which has almost majority of its occupancy through domestic tourists had added swimming pool facility to its hotels at Miramar near Panaji and Calangute, which is on the beach.
