As the curtains go down on the Great Indian Travel Baazar (GITB) 2010 at the B M Birla Convention Centre here, the mood of the travel industry professional is upbeat as they firm up bookings for India inbound travellers.
GITB 2010 witnessed 5370 B2B meetings between foreign tour operators (FTOs) and sellers of the Indian tourism product besides numerous meetings and interactions of the FTOs with the tourism fraternity of the country.
Emboldened by the 100 per cent footfalls at GITB and the unprecedented response of the FTOs to source a variety of the Indian product offerings, the Gujarat Government has announced the holding of a ‘Gujarat Tourism Conclave’ with FICCI on June 24 this year. At GITB 2010, the Gujarat Tourism department has reported over 100 meetings with prospective buyers from overseas and private operators who are co-exhibitors under department’s banner have had 75 such B2B meetings.
“We are greatly enthused by the overwhelming response to the GITB and will strive to make the next edition of the travel bazaar, even bigger and better, said Ms. Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson, FICCI Tourism Committee & CMD, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group.
While Uttarakhand and Bihar made detailed presentations of their tourism products to the FTOs, private operators from the 10 GITB partner states have reported successful outcomes from the B2B meetings.
While Uttarakhand is the Theme State for GITB this year the partner states are Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Orissa and Meghalaya.
