France will be opening offices for visa application and Campus France, the French higher education promotion agency, here by the year-end.
French ambassador to India Francois Richier revealed this to reporters after attending a meeting of French business leaders here on Saturday.
"The office of Campus France is aimed at reaching out to higher education institutions in Kerala and to connect them with their French counterparts," he said.
Across India, there are 400 active MoUs with Indian educational institutions, each sending at least one student to France every year.
France had provided visas to 3,000 Indian students last year, of whom 300 were on French scholarships.
As many as 350 French companies function in India now, of which seven have invested in Kerala. Five of them are operating in Kochi. Accor SA, a hotel group, is building Hotel Ibis in Kochi. Also, Tim Guillois, a French marketing and communications professional, had acquired Saltmangotree, a local communications company, to turn it into an Indian subsidiary of his family group Links Groupe.
