EgyptAir is planning to normalise its operations from Mumbai to Cairo by the year end as the country is returning to normalcy.
As per a report in the TOI, Egypt, which was in a turmoil after the February Revolution at Tahrir Square, has a high tourism potential and attracts 12 million visitors from across the world for its famous pyramids, museum of mummies, ancient temples and warm beaches.
Engineer Hussein Massoud, chairman and CEO, EgyptAir Holding Company said, "We are in the process of restoring our country's image and attracting tourists back to our soil."
The political turmoil had a direct impact on flight operations, specially to India, but the Egypt's national carrier is very optimistic. At present, it operates three flights from Mumbai to Cairo and this could be doubled by the year end.
