The Holy town of Dwarka may soon turn into tourist delight. The Gujarat tourism department has decided to ban entry of all vehicles on the 200 meter path leading to the main temple. Also, the walls along the road will have numerous paintings depicting scenes from Krishna Leela.
The tourism department has planned paved walkway in Dwarka and a separate area for tourists. This apart, the town will have an entrance gate showing all the 10 incarnation of Lord Vishnu. For devotees who do not wish to spend the night in Dwarka, the department is planning to set up a dormitory along with locker facility. The devotees can keep their belongings at the entrance and head for the temple without having to carry their luggage. Loudspeakers will be put up along the walkway to ensure all the pilgrims enjoy Krishna bhajans.
As per a TOI report, the Suryanarayan temple and the Gomtighat will also be renovated. The Gomtighat will be developed on the lines of Haridwar; the stairs of the ghat will be made broad so that people can sit and perform pooja. Besides, a special structure will be constructed for performing poojas at the ghat. A tourism department official said the area near the Suryanarayan temple will be given a facelift with fountains and gardens. The area will be developed as a sea facing garden and will also have toy trains and water sports in the second phase of development.
Rukshamani Temple: The tourism department has decided to divert traffic 100 meters from the Rukshamani Temple. The area between the main road and the Ruskshamani temple will be developed for tourists. It will also come up with parking facilities, gardens and other public utility areas.
Nageshwar: The lake behind the Shiv temple in Nageshwar will be also be developed. The area will have better public utility areas and adequate parking facilities. Also, the area near the temple will be paved.
Gopi Talav: The development of this lake will be taken up in two phases. In the first phase, the tourism department will make room for parking facilities and built an entrance gate for the area. The areas will also have shops and a cafeteria. In the second phase, the lake itself will be renovated.
Shivrajpur Beach: The Shivrajpur area is not known to the tourists. The tourism department, in the first phase of the development project, wants to build a changing room, a cafeteria and public utility facilities. In the second phase, the department will ensure there is proper infrastructure that will make the place suitable for beach tourism.
