While domestic air travel in countries like Japan, China, US have shown a declining trend in April due to factors like Tsunami, tight economic policies, ATF prices, the domestic travel in India grew by 25.6 % for the month of April says International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The association also said that in the last five years “Among the emerging markets India stands out with very strong growth of 25.6% in April. In the past 5 years the domestic air travel market has tripled, compared to a doubling of the Chinese and the Brazilian domestic markets, and compared to a shrinkage of domestic air travel in both US and Japan,” a statement from IATA said.

The International Air Transport Association cut its 2011 airline-industry profit forecast by 54 percent because of higher oil prices, political protests in the Middle East and North Africa, and the Japan earthquake.
