Domestic air traffic increases by nearly 10 percent in October

Domestic air traffic grew almost 10% last month compared to that in September with IndiGo claiming it had flown almost one-third of total passengers in October. 

Passengers carried by all domestic carriers between January and October this year was 507.02 lakh as against 483.95 lakh in 2012, registering a growth of 4.77%, official data showed. 

It also showed that the airlines together flew 50.08 lakh passengers in October compared to 45.55 lakh in September, reflecting a 9.9% growth. 

The data, collated by the DGCA from the airlines themselves, showed IndiGo had the maximum market-share of 30.2% last month, followed by its no-frill competitor SpiceJet with 20%.
