DoT, Govt of AP to launch river cruise from Nagarjuna-Sagar to Srisailam on October 30, 2010

The state tourism department recently completed the trial runs of the river cruise and is now planning to operate it every Saturday.

In a bid to attract more number of tourists, Department of Tourism (DoT), Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to launch a river cruise on Krishna River from Nagarjuna-Sagar to Srisailam from October 30, 2010. The state tourism department recently completed the trial runs of the river cruise and is now planning to operate it every Saturday. According to an official from the state tourism department the river cruise will leave Anupu near Nagarjuna-Sagar at 10 am and reach Srisailam by 6 pm the same day. 

The state tourism department will make arrangements for the darshan at Srisailam Temple and night stay for travellers. The return journey will begin at 6 am on Sunday and reach Nagarjuna-Sagar by 2 pm. The state tourism department will arrange special buses for those coming from Hyderabad. 

While the total cost of the package has been fixed at Rs 2,500 for elders and Rs 1,800 for children from Hyderabad to Srisailam via Nagarjuna-Sagar, it will be Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,100 respectively for elders and children from Nagarjuna-Sagar. The cost includes night accommodation and food expenses. The official said they would conduct more trips depending upon the response from tourists.
