Citrus Hotels & Resorts, part of Mirah Hospitality, will invest around Rs 600 crore in the next three years to double its number of properties to 15 and increase number of hotel rooms to 1,500. The mid-market hospitality chain has also identified some distress hotel properties in Chennai and Gurgaon for buy-outs, said Om Goenka, chairman and managing director of Mirah as per a company release.
The company has seven operational properties with total 450 rooms in Goa, Alleppey, Pimpri (near Pune), Mahabaleshwar and Sriperembudur (near Chennai). The new properties for which land has already been acquired and paid for will come up at Thekkadi in Kerala, two jungle resorts at Tadoba near Nagpur, Alibaug, Jodhpur, Thane, Lower Parel, and Bandra in Mumbai. At these new properties, Citrus will continue to focus on business and leisure segment.
The company has already spent around Rs 200 crore on land acquisition at these locations and Rs 350 crores on eight properties including the Bangalore property and other ones that are currently operational.
