With an aim to showcase India as a global tourist destination, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has planned to organise a three-day tourism fest from December 5 with several states expected to participate.
"The first ever tourism fest will be organised with the partnership of all northern state governments to boost tourism," said Arjun Sharma, Chairman, CII Tourism Fest 2013 and Managing Director, Le Passage to India.
Punjab government has agreed to be the principal partner state while Gujarat will be the 'partner state' in this initiative, he said.
Jharkhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh andMadhya Pradesh have confirmed their participation while discussions are on with Uttarakhand, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Odisha, he said.
