Centre grants Chandigarh Rs 250 crore for tourism projects

In a major shot in the arm for tourism projects in the city, the UT Administration has been sanctioned Rs 250 crore by the Union Ministry of Tourism. With the grant, the Ministry has asked the UT Administration to expedite ongoing tourism projects.

A review meeting in this regard was held on Thursday and was chaired by the Advisor to the UT Administrator K K Sharma. The ongoing projects include extension of Kalagram in Manimajra, setting up of a Regional Tourist Information Centre, the Paryatan Bhawan at Sector 17, and state-of-the-art convention centre, Nehru Centre for Performing Arts at Sector 34, and completion of the Beant Singh Memorial in Sector 42.
