Centre approves Rs 12.30 crore grant to boost NE tourism projects

The ministry has given Rs 160 lakh for strengthening of wayside tourism facilities along the national highway in Sikkim circuit

In a boost to North-East tourism sector, Centre has approved over Rs 12 crore assistance for tourism projects in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Nagaland. 

A central finance assistance of Rs 12.30 crore for various tourism development projects in northeast was given by Tourism Ministry with an aim to boost tourism infrastructure in the region, a senior Tourism Ministry official said. 

The ministry has sanctioned Rs 89.10 lakh for development of tourist infrastructure at Buranilkantha in West Sikkim. 

Buranilkantha is a beautiful river side location en route Geyzing and Renchenpong. The project involves development of amenity block, construction of eco-friendly walkways and landscaping and beautification, the official said.
