Jammu and Kashmir government today said the Centre has sanctioned 19 new tourist projects for the development and upgradation of tourist related infrastructure in the state.
"The Centre has sanctioned 19 new tourist projects involving a cost of Rs 97.36 crore for development and upgradation of tourist related infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir", state minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora said while reviewing physical and financial status of the under execution centrally sponsored tourism projects in the state.
Jora said that government would seek Rs 29.90 crore from Union Ministry of Tourism for upgradation of adventure sports tourism infrastructure at Zanskar in Kargil district.
“Tourism potential of Zanskar area is being explored fully by creation of tourist related infrastructure and development of scenic spots, besides adventure sports of the area,” he said while reviewing fiscal and financial achievements registered by Zanskar Tourism Development Authority today.
The Minister said that to promote adventure tourism and create tourist related facilities in the area, the Government is formulating a detailed project of Rs 29.90 crore, which after approval of the State Government would be submitted to Central Government for approval of funding.
