Celebrity Cruises has revamped its policy for groups, giving travel agents more time to market and sell inventory.
According to Celebrity Cruises the policy has been done in order to "better align with consumer booking trends," as the programme gives agents more options, depending on the number of cabins they need to hold.
"We want to make it easy for travel agent partners to think of Celebrity as their go-to cruise line when it comes to group space," stated Dondra Ritzenhaler, Senior Vice President, Sales, Celebrity Cruises in a statement. Celebrity’s group policy will continue to offer no-deposit and deposit programmes, but the no-deposit programme will now permit travel agents to hold a maximum of 16 cabins up to 120 days prior to the sailing date for cruises of up to eight nights and 150 days prior to the sailing date for cruises of nine nights or longer.
The deposit programme allows travel agents to set aside between 17 and 50 cabins until 120 days before the sailing date for cruises of up to eight nights and 150 days before the sailing date for cruises of nine nights or longer. Deposits are due within 30 days of creating the group space. Celebrity said that travel agents could use either type of group booking programme at any time.
The changes do not apply to cruise tours or Celebrity Xpedition sailings.
