UP Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday announced projects worth Rs 50 crore to improve tourist and pilgrim facilities in Mathura-Vrindavan-Govardhan. He got a first hand experience of \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'cleanliness\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' in Mathura and Vrindavan, one of the most visited tourist spots in the state.

He ensured that Cleanliness is a must in this area and all paraphernalia required for this should be arranged, he propogated this idea after inaugurating a community kitchen during his visit to Mathura.

Tourists and tour operators have been complaining of pathetic civic condition in the city for a long time. But both local administration and the state tourism department have not been able to address their woes.

A group of tourists from Lucknow who recently went to Mathura rued poor civic conditions at Mathura.
