The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the AP Tourism Department are holding a two-day conclave here on Feb 24 and Feb 25 to promote tourism and to brand the city as a hot tourist destination both for domestic and international tourists.
CII AP zone chairman G.S Shiv Kumar said here on Monday that during the past two years or more after the bifurcation of the State several major events had taken place in the city and it was in the news but "we have felt that a more focused approach and right marketing strategies are needed to showcase the city. We have invited 25 major destination promotion companies in the country to the conclave to discuss strategies for the purpose and to enlist their help."
Neeraj Sarda, the convener of the tourism panel of the CII, said the CII had taken a decision to promote Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati as the three major tourists destinations in the State. "We will begin with Visakhapatnam and replicate the methods at the other two cities. Visakhapatnam has been attracting a considerable number of tourists domestically, but it is time now to draw the international tourists. We have all the advantages. Our endeavour will be to get Visakhapatnam included in the eastern tourist circuit," he said.
He said air connectivity had improved greatly in the past few years and therefore it should not be a problem for international tourists.
