Brand USA held its Mumbai roadshow at Trident BKC yesterday leading a delegation of 50 participants representing 35 US companies which include destinations, attractions, hotels and Destination Management Companies (DMCs).
Around 300 travel agents from Mumbai & Western India interacted with the delegates during the day where agents could get more information about the attractions of USA, followed by an evening of entertainment over coctails & dinner with some faboulous prizes for the lucky ones at the raffles.
Speaking exclusively to Traveltechie.com, Sheema Vora, President, Sartha Marketing Consultants said, \\\"It was a successful event. The response from Indian and the USA travel industry rose beyond expectations. It was a platform where good business could be conducted which would in turn benefit the Indian clients.\\\" She also told us about her next stop being Delhi, where they are hoping to get the same or even better response. Currently they are covering Delhi and Bombay, but soon hope to include South India also.
Mr.Jay Gray, Vice President, Global Partnership Development said, \\\"Our target for 2015 is hopefully 1 million travellers that would visit the USA from India. Our strategy for this would be to work with trade, co-op programmes, education etc… We want to drive leisure travel & also want to capture the MICE tourism/travel amongst the corporate level.\\\"
According to Gray, “education is the key” to it all. Brand USA wishes to inform the Indian market about their diverse activities, places, recreational visits to USA. They are not bound by States and hope to promote USA on the whole, aiming to promote USA holistically. Arranging a tour based on interest is also their agenda, say music, entertainment etc… Including of new itineraries, unique opportunities is their key plan.
\\\"Our competitors include Australia, Korea, Europe.\\\" he further added. Based on the census, 650,000 Indians visited USA last year which shows a growth of 12 per cent over previous year.
