"Having finished 50 years in the hospitality business last year we were looking for a healthy partnership with a brand that has a strong expertise in the hospitality sector. We are glad to have found Berggruen Hotels bring in the best of its national experience and professional operational style to the hotel," Jehangir Cama, chairman and managing director of Cama Hotels Ltd, said while announcing the tie-up on Thursday.
Berggruen Hotels focus on niche segment of single lady travellers. "The quantum of the single lady traveller is currently between 8-10% (of the visitors' profile) in the country. With the number of female executives and women business travellers on the rise, the proportion is expected to touch 20% in the next five years. We need to be ready for this changing trend," says Sanjay Sethi, managing director and CEO of Berggruen Hotels
Sethi explained that his hospitality chain is focused on providing additional security features to female visitors. "Security is always a concern for these female executives. We have separate floors for female executives in our hotels. Their rooms will be equipped with video phones that will allow them to check the identity of the any person seeking entry into the room," he added. At present only premium hotel brands like ITC Maurya Sheraton & Towers, Taj Business Hotels only offer such facilities. In hotels that don't have a dedicated floors, the rooms will be offered near the elevators and the hotel staff will be sensitised to the needs of the individual female traveller.
