A joint effort between Atout France and its partners - Air France, Rhone Alpes Tourism and the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau saw a familiarization trip organized to France in the first week of August. Specially organised for the trade, this 8 day journey of discovery welcomed a good mix of  travel agencies such as Abercrombie & Kent (New Delhi), Amazing Vacations (Mumbai), JTB Travels (Ahmedabad), Saltours International (Mumbai), Thomas Cook India Ltd (Mumbai) and TUI (New Delhi).

Courtesy Air France, agents got a taste of French hospitality onboard their flights departing ex New Delhi and Mumbai. An impressive sight in the form of Terminal 2E greeted the agents on their landing in Paris. This newly transformed terminal is dedicated to all of Air France's international, non Schengen flights and also welcomes all Air France India flights as well. Its 3 concourses - K,L and M are connected with a fast train which reduce overall connecting time between international flights and passengers can connect between the concourses in less than 4 minutes. The largest Air France Lounge spanning over 3000 sq m with multi service options is also located in this terminal .

In an effort to showcase the diversity of the Rhone Alpes region, the programme included a comprehensive mix of sightseeing and hotel visits. Capital city, Lyon was explored on foot and by a hop on hop off bus tour enabling agents to enjoy varied experiences of the city. The traboules or covered passageways of Lyon lured the agents for discovery, while a visit to the Lumiere Institute rekindled the cinema connection. Sumptuous meals validating Lyon's claim as the Capital of Gastronomy were enjoyed in the form of a gastronomic dinner aboard a cruise as well as trendy eateries in the city. Breathtaking vistas of Annecy and its picturesque lake justified its sobriquet as the ''Venice of the Alps''. The 2 day stay in Chamonix promised exciting Alpine adventures for the delegation. From rafting to trying out the exciting luge ride to snowfall on the Aiguille du Midi to making your own fondue at a restaurant specialising in regional delicacies, the programme had it all! A final good bye to the region was said over a satisfying Indian meal in Chamonix.
