Arunachal Governor calls for opening regional tourist circuits

Advocates inclusion of more places like Walong and places of visitor's interest in Tirap and Changlang districts in tourism circuits

Emphasising the importance of tourism as one of the key sectors for state's all-round development, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen (Retd) J J Singh today called for opening of regional tourist circuits involving Assam and other neighbouring states to give a thrust to the sector's growth.

The governor during a meeting here said that tourism, one of the strong points of development in the state, must be harnessed to the optimum. Advocating for inclusion of more places like Walong and places of visitor's interest in Tirap and Changlang districts in tourism circuits, Singh said that though these places have huge potential but due to their non-inclusion, the socio-economic development of these areas was hampered.

The governor, who is for improving the road communication to give thrust to tourism development in the state, called for involvement of the local youth in tourism-related projects.
