In recent times, Andhra Pradesh has become a hub for events of international stature. Observing this trend, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday said that plans were to develop the State as a tourist destination were in the pipeline.
He, along with Union Minister for Tourism K. Chiranjeevi, inaugurated the three-day Kakinada Beach Festival at the Vakalapudi beach in the state. Mr. Chiranjeevi said the beach festival was soon to become an annual event in Kakinada owing to the lack of means for entertainment for the people there. He also said “Connecting the age-old temples in the vicinity, a temple circuit would be developed at an outlay of Rs. 7.8 crore,”
Mr. Chiranjeevi also claimed that the Vakalapudi beach was as beautiful as the beaches in Goa, Chennai and Puri and felt that there was an immediate need to develop infrastructure. “Then only this beach can attract tourists from outside and provide livelihood to the local people,” he said.
