With the annual pilgrimage progressing smoothly, a seventh batch of 3,267 devotees today left Jammu base camp for the holy Amarnath cave shrine amid tight security arrangements.
As many as 22,895 pilgrims have left Jammu in seven batches till now for their onward journey to the 13,500-feet high shrine.
"Yatra is going on smoothly without any problem in cave shrine and enroute," police said. Mobile units of CRPF escorted the 2,177 men, 791 women, 90 children and 209 sadhus in a cavalcade of 104 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar Base camp in Jammu at around 0500 hours for Amarnath, they said.
The rush here has dimmed and food and shelter was being provided to the pilgrims at Base camp and other places in Jammu, Udhampur and Kathua areas, they added.
