Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is promoting heritage tourism in UP on the same model as Rajasthan.
Yadav's plan has already found favour among the erstwhile rajas and taluqdars of UP, who have hailed his initiative and planned a meeting here on Sunday to discuss the matter at length. The meeting is proposed to be attended by over 200 delegates.
What makes the meeting important is that it is being hosted for the first time at such a large scale here. Adding to its significance is the fact it will be attended also by Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur, who is also the president of All India Heritage Association as per a TOI report.
Thus, the new heritage plan comes as a renewed hope for this class. The plan envisages to make use of these places for tourism. Ideally located away from the maddening crowds of the cities and built in an oriental style with historical importance, these places aptly suits to the fantasy and imagination of tourists, who are keen in history and live in style.
Dismissing politics behind the move, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who also held a meeting with the delegation of the UP Heritage Association at his Kalidas Marg residence here on Saturday, said the plan was meant to give a fillip to heritage tourism in the state, which has always been looked at by tourists, pilgrims, history lovers and adventure seekers as an interesting destination.
