Indian carriers have come up with various promotional schemes & discounts to boost the off-season domestic traffic on routes that are expected to see a fall in demand. Among the airlines offering these discounts are Jet Airways, Air India, Kingfisher Airlines and Spice Jet.
Air India has put up an offer for their frequent flyers who have flown or will fly on the airline's domestic network between 20 July and 30 September. Passengers who bought tickets worth Rs. 1 lakh (total cost of the ticket including all taxes) and above during the said time period will be "eligible for one economy class return international ticket (taxes payable by the passenger) on any of the sectors operated by Air India," the airline release said.
Passengers who spent Rs 1.5 lakh and above will get a return ticket on economy class (taxes to be borne by the passenger) on any of the international sectors operated by Air India. Those with a spend of Rs 2.25 lakh and above stand to get a business class ticket on international route and passengers with Rs 3 lakh and above get a return class business ticket.
IndiGo on its website says, "it's our birthday month now'' and so passengers who log into IndiGo booking site get a 15 percent discount on base fare. Spice has a "discount of the day" offer for monsoon travel.
