The Malaysian carrier, AirAsia, is lookin to launch an Indian airline in affiliation with a local promoter, in a bid to earn a share in one of Asia's biggest aviation markets. The company will be majorly owned by an Indian promoter and AirAsia will own 49 per cent.
The Malaysian carrier, owned by Tony Fernandes, has hinted at partenering with the Videocon Group and the talks are at a preliminary stage. Venugopal Dhoot, the chairman of the Videocon Group, confirmed saying, "They had approached us. These were preliminary discussions. There's nothing I can say now."
