Air services withdrawn from 11 airports across India during last 3 years

Jaisalmer, Jamshedpur, Kolhapur, Latur, Mysore, Nasik, Pant Nagar, Pathankot, Salem, Sholapur, Belgaum airports lose flight connectivity to rest of India

Mr. Ajit Singh, the Minister of Civil Aviation informed Lok Sabha today in a written reply that during the last three years i.e. 2009-2012 (till April), the details of cities from where air services have been withdrawn are as under:

i)              2009          Jaiselmer

ii)             2010          Jamshedpur, Kolhapur

iii)            2011          Latur, Mysore, Nasik, Pant Nagar, Pathankot, Salem, Sholapur

iv)           2012          Belgaum

 

Operations in domestic sector have been deregulated and flights are being operated by concerned airlines on the basis of commercial viability subject to adherence of Route Disperal Guidelines (RDG).

Government has laid down RDG with a view to achieve better regulation of air transport services taking into account the need for air transport services of different regions of the country including North-East region.
