Air India reduces loss to Rs 5,551 crore in 2009-10

Air India yesterday announced that it has reduced its loss by 23 per cent to Rs 5,551 crore in 2009-10 from Rs 7,189 crore in the previous financial year.

The net loss of the company has decreased to Rs 5,551 crore in 2009-10. In 2008-09, it was Rs 7,189 crore. The operating loss of the company declined by 39 per cent at Rs 3,472 crore in 2009-10 from Rs 5,672 crore in the previous fiscal, mentioned the airline statement, after its Board approved the audited financial results for 2009-10. 

Increase in Passenger Load Factor (PLF), which was 64.8 per cent in 2009-10, was one of the main reasons in reducing the net loss. In 2008-09, the airline had a PLF of 59.5 per cent.
