With the tourism season set to commence from the second week of September, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Limited (APTDC) is planning to develop resorts at various locations in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts in order to capitalise on the tourist inflow from states such as West Bengal and Odisha.
The APTDC divisional manager G Bheemashankar Rao said on Saturday that APTDC is planning to conduct a soft launch of resorts in Srikakulam district at Kalingapatnam and Saaligundam on September 18. While the resort at Kalingapatnam with rooms have been developed at a cost of Rs 1 crore, the one at Saaligundam has come up at a cost of Rs 94 lakh, he added.
Also, APTDC is planning to set up a tourist facility comprising banquet halls, 15 rooms and a restaurant near Arasavilli Temple in Srikakulam at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore. About 60% of the works have been completed and it is scheduled to be inaugurated in December, Rao added.
Apart from these locations, he said APTDC is planning resorts at Chintapalli on the coastline of Vizianagaram at a cost of Rs 94 lakh, resorts at Lammasingi in Visakhapatnam district spread over 5 acres at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore and on a 3.5-acre site at Paderu for Rs 5 crore as per a TOI report.
Apart from these, 12 individual cottages are being developed on 4 acres at Vaakalapudi near Kakinada in East Godavari district to allow tourists to explore neighbouring destinations including the Coringa Sanctuary, which is famous for its mangroves. This project is scheduled to be completed within 9 months, he added.
