Striving on to make tourism industry a boost to the State's economy, Tourism Department of Mizoram presently undertakes 11 projects under the current Five Year Plan, namely: Tourist Destination Chakhang (Rs.203.56 lakhs); Tourist Destination Niawhtlang (Rs.203.56 lakhs); Convention Centre at Berawtlang (Rs.467.71 lakhs); Tourist Destination Chawngte (Rs.388.47 lakhs); Tourist Destination Palak (Rs.437.75 lakhs); Tourist Circuit Maubawk - Chakheitla (Rs.694.88 lakhs); Tourist Lodge Serchhip (Rs.172.02 lakhs); Serlui 'B' Lake Destination (Rs.384.39 lakhs); Tourist Destination Aizawl ( units) (Rs.457.61 lakhs); Tourist Lodge Khawzawl (Rs.337.47 lakhs); Tourist Destination Demagri (Rs.484.63 lakhs) .
As mentioned in the latest State's Economic Survey, these ongoing projects are in addition to projects undertaken and completed during 11th Five Year Plan, which were: Southern Tourist Circuit Phase II (6 units) @ Rs.706.67 lakhs; Tourist Destination Sakawrdai (4 units) @ Rs.472.07 lakhs; Tourist Destination Kanhmun (4 units) @ Rs.499.20 lakhs; and Aerosport @ Rs.298.38 lakhs .
Also, in the field of Human Resource Development, the Ministry of Tourism has accorded financial sanction to the tune of Rs.10.00 crores for setting up of Institute of Hotel Management at Aizawl.
For this, Society has been formed and 75% of construction of work is now completed.
When completed, this institute will conduct Degree Course as well as Diploma Course.
