1.5 lakh Amarnath Yatris registered in two weeks

Designated bank branches are witnessing a heavy rush for registration

The registration of Amarnath yatris is going on in full swing and so far over 1.5 lakh devotees have secured the yatra permits to visit the 3,880- metre high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.

The yatra is scheduled to commence on June 29 and the registration of the pilgrims started about two weeks ago through internet based e-Registration facility and 149 bank branches spread across various states.

"In the first 12 days since commencement of Registration as many as 1,50,961 persons have secured the Yatra Permits for performing this year's yatra to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath, scheduled to commence on June 29," Chief Executive Officer of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) R K Goyal said today.
